>>As a novice I feel obligated to inform my elders about Broce's activities in another folder. She State[d she] wore PLAID. (see African American folder in Fellowship) I have never seen plaid Satin!<<

Renee, thanks for the concern but we are NOT all cut from the same cloth.. In fact when I was a girl, my plaid was taffetta, which makes such a lovely sound, with a velvet bodice. These days, my plaid is wool, glorious wool, to which other paeans have been sung in the folder.

Broce (who still remembers the sound of plaid taffetta well, though she does try to block the visual memory)

..for you to ponder..

I hear, very often, pagans refering to Versace, Di, and Mother Teresa as the Maiden, Mother, and Crone. well, think on this.

Versace worked with designer clothing
Di wore designer clothing
M. Teresa had forsaken designer clothing.

Is it a sign? I doubt it.

Subj: Clarifications
Date: 97-10-21 00:43:54 EDT
From: Arriande

Fellow Celebrants of the Temple of Pleasant Fabrics,

I see I must clarify a bit regarding this new, I mean ancient, tradition. While there is a special guild set aside for those adepts of the mysterious magick of sewing, one need not be able to sew to be part of the Temple of Pleasant Fabrics.

The TPF is for all who enjoy the vast pantheon of Pleasant Fabrics, whether said fabric is used for clothing, upholstery, wall decoration, bed covering, or in more imaginative ways. Anyone who has merely walked through a fabric store and surreptitiously stroked a bolt or two has felt the primal and powerful lure of Pleasant Fabrics.

The sensual enjoyment of Pleasant Fabrics is primarily tactile and visual, of course, but our Temple has room for all fabric sensualists -- from those who delight in that enchanting taffeta rustle to those who love the smell of a wool sweater on a firelit winter evening. (Out of respect for their well-shrouded secrets, I choose not to supply an example for those who explore the deeper mysteries of the remaining sense in relation to fabric.)

The theological debate over natural versus synthetic is a difficult one, and I reserve judgment in favor of the subjective-interpretation theory.

Velvetic Priestess and Tapestry Devotee,

I cast my vote emphatically against everything to do with moths and mothballs.

You take the arsenic and I'll take the old lace,

Subj: TPF missive/CONTEST!
Date: 97-10-21 14:26:37 EDT
From: Lollypin

Greetings Divas,

This missive is to inform you of the official position taken by the Temple of Pleasant Fabrics in regards to mothballs. Mothballs, like all good toxins, serve a powerful and righteous purpose when properly utilized. In light of the service provided, their odor may be forgiven. However, their nomination as Official Incense is hereby declined.

The Temple encourages experimentations with satchets and perfumes, and therefore, we would like to invite all members, neophytes and adepts alike, to submit nominations for the Official Temple Incense.

Well pass the tiaras.....it's a pageant!!!

Please post suggestions here for review by all members. The final decision will be made by the co-founders of the temple, Arriande, myself, and our silent 3rd partner if we can find them again. The winner will receive the honor of designating the official Fabric of the Year, including color, which shall be forwarded with official TPF sanctions to every major fashion magazine we don't snicker at.

Along with your nomination for Official Temple Incense we ask that you please include a brief statement in support of your choice. The following is an example, and my own nomination:

Reporter: What do you wear [to] bed?
Marilyn Monroe: Chanel No.5

(hence, I nominate Chanel No.5 for actually being a fabric) (also, I dig numbers)

Thank you brothers and sisters in the satin. Have fun =)

Lavender, of course.

It goes with old lace, is a moth repellent that doesn't repel people, and is just generally good magic. A mix of rosemary and lavender is one of the most ecologically sound sachets for fabric storage that you can concoct. It compells the inhaler to remember the good old days (Rosemary, that's for remembrance..)

There has been much ado about whether certain celebrities are (or are not) devotees of the Temple and its orders...

But to be certain, a true believer is Madonna, who came out of the sewing basket with that most wonderful hymn, "Material Girl".

I would like to submit Lavendar and Cedar for the official Temple Incense. The fragrant flowery scent of Lavendar mixed with the woodsy aroma of Cedar repel moths and keep my most precious vintage silks, woolens, velvets, and lace safe from harm!

Subj: regarding synthetics...
Date: 97-10-22 01:28:49 EDT
From: Morkeleb1

I have read through all of these posts and have noticed a decided bias against synthetics, which I would like to protest. While I agree that such synthetics as polyester were perverted and corrupted during that dark and dismal period known as the 70's, from whence the evil leisure suit made its most unwholesome apperance, let us not forget that even the chemicals from which synthetics are made come from, and are a natural part of the Earth.

It is not these simple chemicals which are evil, but rather it is the misguided use to which they are put that is evil. The same chemicals which are combined in vile ways to produce the dreaded leisure suit, PROPERLY mixed have been used to produce beautiful artificial furs, thus providing a fashionable alternative to the senseless slaughter of innocent creatures solely for human vanity. Not to mention that synthetic fabrics are used to create the spiritually up-lifting and long lasting beauty that is Old Glory (the only thing I know of that can make the colors red, white & blue look like they actually go together!).

So, my fellow Fabricites, do not heap your disdain on the helpless synthetics. Rather use the skills our Goddess has given us to redeem the syntheitcs and ensure that they are never used for evil purposes again!

My personal favorite is cinniammon, ginger, frankincence & myrhh. It's delightful. Also gives PROTECTION against any intruding varmints and yet provides for MATERIAL wealth!!

I'm definately going to have to go with cedar and lavender. After all, that wonderful place where I do all my rituals with Pleasant Fabrics is in that hallowed room I call to my non-Fabrickal friends the Cedar Closet.

Blessings in both synthetic and natural,
